Recommended Reading List

The below reading list was compiled by Coach Allen and supports the philosophy of The Machine and our staff. We encourage coaches, players and parents to be life-long learners and not all of the books deal directly with sports. However, all of the readings do relate to both successes and failures in various life lessons. Building a successful athlete, scholar, and citizen takes far more than a village – it takes vigilance. Vigilance first requires knowledge and that is what we hope to impart in this recommended reading list. Of note, the lessons of greatness are many and varied across life’s spectrum, but the pillars such as discipline, character, mental toughness and hard work are immovable requirements that persist in “every” success story. Conversely, the absence of these pillars mandates certain failure. If you have a book that you believe will benefit our players, parents, or coaches, please send us an email and we will add it to our list.
